THE Commissioner of Police, Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Haji Hasrin bin Dato Paduka Haji Sabtu, said yesterday’s 92nd Police Day celebration was an important and exciting event for the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) because it reminded the force of its existence as a law enforcement agency that is a vital pillar for the safety and security of the country.
During his speech at the celebration, he hoped that every personnel will renew his/her determination, commitment, discipline and dedication to his/her duties and responsibilities.
The maturity of the RBPF after 92 years of its establishment could clearly be felt he said during his speech at the RBPF Training Centre in Gadong.
“During this period, together we have seen the challenging developments and changes.”
In an effort to enhance the force, he explained that the theme of the 92nd Police Day has been maintained as in previous years. The theme “Inculcating Professionalism and Integrity within the Force” (Membudayakan Profesionalisme dan Integriti Pasukan) should be embraced by every personnel of the RBPF, he said.
As an initial step and an important foundation, he suggested that all personnel of the RBPF improve their discipline. He added that among the things that should be given consideration is the involvement and attendance of the officers and staff members of RBPF’s main activities which include religious and social activities.
The matter is crucial and should be cultivated continuously as it instils the values of leadership, teamwork and develop a sense of belonging among them, he said.
He also highlighted that at the management and supervision level, the officers should focus, dedicate themselves and be firm in mentoring and guiding the personnel under their care.
“Any officers or personnel found guilty would face action in accordance with the rules and laws provided,” he said.
This year, Brunei Darussalam is given the honour to host the Asean Summit which provides challenges for the RBPF in upholding the country’s name in the international arena.
“In this regard, all personnel of the Police Force are urged to play their role and responsibilities in ensuring the national security is assured,” the Commissioner of Police said.
