“Upon graduation from university, we hope that the supply of knowledge and the experiences gained are capable of turning graduates into becoming competent with regard to upholding the dignity of our country.”
This was stated by the Director-General of Education at the Ministry of Education, Pg Hjh Sarah binti Pg Hj Kamaluddin, in her capacity as the guest of honour during the 11th Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College Graduation Ceremony on Saturday.
She said that graduates need to seize any available opportunity that comes their way and to sharpen and maximise their potential, especially in light of globalisation exposing Brunei to the competitive and extremely high-quality of services and products from abroad.
“The Ministry of Education will continue to invest in education as a foundation for achieving the National Vision 2035,” she added, stating that the ministry will continue to invest in Bruneians receiving great education overseas, where 800 students are currently on scholarship.
In her welcoming address, the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College Principal, Cikgu Pg Sarimah binti Pg Hj Ahmad said the annual graduation ceremony is a way of showing appreciation for the achievements of students made over their last seven years of schooling.
A total of 277 students graduated and received a certificate of appreciation from the guest of honour.
