Junior Star and Great United fire blanks in U-16 league

PENGIRAN Anak Abdul Aleem watched on from the stands yesterday as Junior Star and Great United played out a goalless draw in the Brunei Muara Telbru National U-16 District Level Youth League at the Berakas Sports Complex.

Elsewhere, FC Phosphor comfortably beat Tasmera Juniors 6-0.

Md Naim Tarif struck first in the 9th minute, before Md Aman Hj Rahim’s nine-minute brace extended FC Phosphor’s lead to 3-0 with just a quarter of the game played.

Adi Zulfadly then netted twice in the space of 3 minutes on the half hour mark to put FC Phosphor five up by half time, with Nizamudin the only player to score in the second half with his 79th minute effort.

Meanwhile, Rimba Star eased past Akse Berastu 3-1. Md Asy Syafi’e, Mohd Anis and Md Harith Syahmi had given Rimba Star a 3-0 lead going into the break, with Md Azrin Samiron’s 55th minute goal for Akse Bersatu proving to be merely consolatory.

In the third match of the day, Vanquish FT beat Future Star by the same scoreline, with Haris Hj Affindi’s first minute goal, the fastest of the tournament, cancelled out by Md Nur Wafiuddin and a Md Rafie Al-Matin brace for Vanquish FT in the second half.
