The ceremony held for the new intake of students was the highlight event of their 4-day Ta’aruf (orientation) week which began on January 7 and was filled with various activities for the students such as briefings from the Deputy Principal of ITQSHHB and the welfare officer, as well as a briefing on Al-Quran studies classes, a visit to the ITQSHHB Library and sports activities.
Present as the guest of honour was Awang Haji Harun bin Haji Junid, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

A welcoming speech was delivered by Ustaz Pengiran Haji Haslin bin Pengiran Haji Ali, the Deputy Principal of ITQSHHB in which he stated that the students that entered ITQSHHB were the selected few out of a total of 303 candidates that have applied and attended the interview process.
“To produce a quality huffaz Al-Quran is not an easy task to do because it would require determination and passion to understand and memorise the Quran deeply. This determination and passion will not come by itself, but must be nurtured and sown continuously,” stated the guest of honour in his speech.
A Mushaf Al-Quran was also delivered by the guest of honour during the ceremony which was then followed by the reading of the pledge by the 2013 intake and ended with the reading of a Doa Selamat by Ustaz Mohammad Fikri bin Haji Sarbini.
