A MALAYSIAN woman was sentenced to a fine of $4,000 or four months imprisonment in default after she pleaded guilty in the Bandar Magistrate’s Court to using someone else’s passport on entering and leaving the country, yesterday.
Lim Hui Leng, 44, used a passport belonging to Elizabeth Philip of Sarawak, Malaysia and personated as the passport holder when entering the Sungai Tujoh Control Post at 9.35pm on January 30, 2015.
When the defendant was about to leave the country at about 2pm on February 1, the immigration officer at the Sungai Tujoh Control Post noticed that defendant’s appearance differed from the photo in the passport.
She was detained for investigation which revealed that she was declared bankrupt in Malaysia three years ago. She accompanied her employer to find a new place for a shop in Brunei.
