KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) – Illegal gambling syndicates in the country were found to have changed their modus operandi by turning residential premises, snooker centres and budget hotels into their new operation centres to prevent themselves from being detected by the authorities.
Acting Wangsa Maju police chief DSP A Asmadi Abd Aziz said the new modus operandi was uncovered following the arrest of seven people, including two Bangladeshi men, in three separate raids in Desa Pandan and Jalan Tun Razak between last Friday and Wednesday.
He said the seven detained are aged between 23 to 33 years.
“Police also seized various gambling equipments and tools during the raids,” he told a press conference at his office yesterday.
He said in the first raid at about 3pm on Friday, two Bangladeshi men and two local men were detained in an apartment unit in Desa Pandan believed to be an illegal gambling den.
