FOUR third year Medical students from the Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Insitute of Health Science (IHS) of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) recently organised a one-day ‘Calories and Nutrients’ workshop for the university’s community. The workshop aimed to increase awareness and understanding of following a healthy and balanced diet.
Supported by Hj Zakaria bin Hj Kamis from the Health Promotion Centre, the event also aimed to educate the university’s community about the risks of having non-communicable diseases such as heart diseases and diabetes.
The group – made up of Krystalina Sim, Abdul Hazim bin Nordin, Nor Era Athirah and Vishnu Haran Shanmugam (Pictured with Hj Zakaria bin Hj Kamis) – during an interview with the Bulletin said, “To encourage the participating students to adopt healthier eating habits, they were put through activities where they discussed about calories and nutrients.”
A Zumba session was held at the end of the event, and participants also received vouchers contributed by Fitness Zone and Energy Kitchen.
