INTERNATIONAL Graduate Studies (IGS) College held an event to congratulate the winners of Brunei ICT Awards (BICTA) 2014 (Tertiary School Category) at IGS College. The winners – final year students in the Bachelor Degree programme – are Hj Ahmad Nabil bin Hj Awang Sulaiman, Md Kamarul Ariffin Zaki bin Harith Fadzilla and Md Hanif bin Hj Abd Wahab.
The students’ work, titled ‘Mobile-Based Virtual Watch Fitting and Booking Application’, was developed on the Android operating system. The event served to encourage other students to strive for innovative IT solutions and motivate them to have confidence in themselves.
Officiating the event was guest of honour Pengiran Haji Mohammad Yamin bin PSJ Pengiran Haji Abdul Momin, Acting CEO of IGS College. Also present were Dr Haji Azaharaini bin Haji Mohd Jamil, a member of the Board of Directors, lecturers and students.
Pg Hajah Hajijah, Human Resource Officer of IGS College, congratulated the students and thanked the academic team for their efforts in guiding the students. It is hoped that winning BICTA 2014 will lead to other achievements by encouraging the students to participate in national as well as international competitions.
The guest of honour also presented certificates to IT students with commendable concepts in their final year projects.
The college is promoting its specialised diploma in collaboration with Lim Kok Wing University of Creative Technology, Malaysia, in the areas of multimedia, graphic design, animation and broadcasting.
Before the event concluded, a group photo was taken with the winners of BICTA 2014, guests and staff of IGS College.
Students who were awarded scholarships by the Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE) were also congratulated at the event. Those that applied for JPKE scholarships are advised to collect their award letters from Raja Isteri Girls’ High School (STPRI) by September 25.
IGS College is starting its new semester on September 29.
