MINISTER of Communications, Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, officiated the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Brunei Darussalam Symposium 2014 yesterday at the Rizqun International Hotel.
Organised by the IET Brunei Darussalam Network, the symposium carries the theme ‘Evolution of Innovative Technologies’ which aims to represent an exciting opportunity to highlight how the industry creates and adapts to emerging technologies through the use of vital innovations.
Also present at the opening were the Chief Executive and Secretary (CES) of IET in the United Kingdom, Nigel Fine, and the Honorary Chairman of IET Brunei Darussalam, Lt Col (Rtd) Hj Amir Hamzah Hj Hanafi.
Yesterday’s event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a welcoming speech by the Symposium Chairman, Lt Col (Rtd) Hj Amir Hamzah and a keynote address by Nigel Fine.
A video clip on the evolution of innovative technologies was also featured at the symposium.
The symposium brought together a line-up of unique organisations and industry players wanting to seize the opportunity to share their expert knowledge on new innovative trends in the industry.
The 180 delegates attending the event include researchers, engineers, academicians, industrial professionals, technology experts, policy makers and regulators from diverse fields such as building design, manufacturing, information technology, electronics and communications engineering, power engineering and education.
The symposium intends to become a platform for the delegates to share, exchange and discusses research work and initiatives in areas relevant to new technologies by providing them with an opportunity to engage in timely discussions on how the energy, telecommunications, manufacturing, engineering and trade industries have found solutions through emerging innovative technologies from around the globe.
