ACCORDING to statistics from the Islamic Dakwah Centre, 490 people converted to Islam from January to October this year, with more people expressing an interest to embrace Islam as their faith.
Yesterday afternoon an Iban family of five expressed their gratitude after converting to Islam following their recitation of the ‘Dua Kalimah Syahadah’.
The conversion ceremony of 50-year-old Miliyu Anak Sangir and his 41-year-old wife, Aini Anak Ansa, along with their children Lysdiana Milini, Lysha Milini and Lyrrifadhly Milini took place at their residence in STKRJ Kg Lugu.
The guest of honour was the Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force, Dato Paduka Seri Awang Bahrin bin Mohd Noor and his wife Datin Rosminah binti Hj Abd Hamid.
Awang Miliyu chose his new name as Muhd Miliyu Firdhaus Muhd Yaakub and his wife chose Nur Aini Abdullah Ansa, while their children, Lysdiana is now known as Nur Lysdiana Rizwana; Lysha as Nur Alisha Farisha and Lyrrifadhly as Muhd Adam Fadhly.
Two other members of Miliyu’s family have also converted to Islam, with the remaining members soon to follow suit.
According to Nur Aini Abdullah Ansa, it has been their family’s intent to convert for a while. She believes that Islam is the right religion for her and her family and that they look forward to celebrating prominent events in the Islamic calendar.
