TO CELEBRATE the latest batch of graduates, a Student Chapter of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB) or better known as the IET-ITB Student Chapter (I2SC) participated in the ITB Pesta Konvo 2014, where an exhibition was put up to promote the science and engineering community and its activities.
Visitors to the exhibition were informed of the IET, the numerous benefits of being part of it and how they could participate.
The I2SC is a link between tertiary students and the IET through the efforts of the Young Professional Section (YPS) of the IET Brunei Network with the aim of providing students of engineering and technology a platform for science, engineering and technology.
It also serves as a pathway to professional registration and development through professional networking, technical visits and professional career development.
Throughout the event, the team behind the I2SC exhibition booth achieved their objective as over 400 visitors left informed of its vision and mission with credit largely due to the student volunteers who were given the opportunity to share their experiences and develop their professional soft skills in public speaking.
These volunteering students were also given the opportunity to project their voices, convey clear concise messages, practise management in teams and crowd control.
