THE Tutong Food Con was thronged by hundreds of customers yesterday at the Hua Ho Petani Mall, Tutong. It was co-organised by the Tutong District Office through the Mukim and Village Institution Section with My Kitchen Box as the event manager. A total of 57 vendors were brought in from all over Brunei Darussalam.
The guest of honour who launched the event was Tutong District Officer, Awang Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali.
In his speech, the guest of honour said it’s a newly introduced event under the Strategic Partnership Programme of the Mukim and Village Consultative Council of Tutong District.
The Strategic Partnership Programme is a new initiative made by the Tutong District in increasing the effectiveness of the One Village One Product (1K1P) implementation by using the consultative council as a platform for young entrepreneurs with small online businesses, as well as creating partnerships and sharing of experiences between the two sides through various initiatives of economic and social activities including training workshops and classes, and joint visits amongst many others in order for products produced by the 1K1P to be given a new touch through innovative and attractive packaging that meets the needs of the market.
“I sincerely hope that this will have a positive following, specifically by the youths of the country in making this a model for encouragement in combining strengths with the experience of the Mukim and Village Consultative Council,” said the guest of honour.
Awang Wardi added that youths should get involved in various healthy activities such as setting up businesses in addition to carrying out welfare work through donations.
“Other than that, it can also foster a sense of belonging along with creating bonds and unity amongst one another regardless of age or society,” added Awang Wardi.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by speeches from the Co-Chairman of the event, Awang Yasadee bin Haji Bolhassan, and the guest of honour and the launching of the Tutong Food Con.
The guest of honour also presented donations to the Tutong District Charity Fund which was followed by a tour around the vendors’ booths.
