A HOUSE in the water village collapsed and submerged last Saturday night.
The incident happened at No 504 ‘A’ in Kg Pelambayan, Jalan Kota Batu at around 1am.
Luckily no one in the house was injured. The house collapsed due to the shifting of the concrete foundation from its original place.
The house owned by Dyg Besar binti Ali was built 15 years ago. There were two families with seven people inside the house when the incident happened.
Awang Mat Sidik, who is the owner’s son, said he heard fracturing sound twice and quickly asked all children to get out of the house because he knew the house was going to collapse.
“Luckily after they all ran out of the house it collapsed,” he added.
There was high tide when the incident happened and all their belongings were submerged.
“We could not save our belongings as it happened very fast. However, we managed to save important paper documents from being destroyed by water,” he said.
He said currently his family is staying with other family members and close relatives, while waiting for help from the relevant authorities.
He urged for quick action from the relevant agencies to help them rebuild the house at the same location as it is suitable for him as a fisherman.
“Various agencies have come and visited the scene and hopefully help is on the way,” he said. He also the thanked village community who helped them in the clearing work yesterday.
