THE Brunei-Muara Sea Scout Open Troop yesterday lent a helping hand in cleaning up and salvaging the belongings of Zaini bin Latip, whose Kampong Sungai Kebun house collapsed on February 20.
Troop Leader Skipper Mohd Syukri bin Haji Masri, an education officer at Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School, offered to help the Zaini family as soon as he learnt of the incident.
The scout troop was welcomed by Sungai Kebun Village Head Haji Merali bin Haji Matzin and Zaini bin Latip, who helped coordinate the work organising the 10 scouts.
Trash, debris and a high concentration of aluminum laid scattered at the house. The scouts got to work and collected two large heaps of trash bags for disposal by the local authorities. However, an extensive amount of work which still needs to be done will resume after the National Day parade in Bandar Seri Begawan.
