THE Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) yesterday held a workshop on presentation skills at Seri Kerna Hall, AITI building. The workshop attended by the Brunei ICT Awards (BICTA) 2014 winners aimed to equip them with powerful presentation skills to prepare them to compete in the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2014. APICTA 2014 will take place at Jakarta BinaNusantara International School fx Lifestyle and Entertainment Park on November 27-30 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively is an essential skill in today’s world. This workshop aimed to polish participants’ abilities to deliver an informative and convincing presentation to a panel of international judges. This will ensure that the Brunei participants at APICTA 2014 are able to articulate their ideas and produce clear business models applicable to the market. The presentation skills workshop was facilitated by Stuart Lee and Dr Chris Woo. The participants were coached on the fundamental theories of communications to deliver their presentation confidently and effectively, discover personal style, project confidence and conviction, organise their presentation effectively, analyse audience, evaluate and receive feedback and apply verbal and non-verbal communication.
Stuart Lee from Rhymin & Partners Coaching and Consultancy began his career as a lecturer at an international college in Malaysia teaching public speaking courses.
Chris Woo is a senior lecturer at Universiti Brunei Darussalam and teaches Professional Communication and the Media.
BICTA is an entry level platform for local ICT innovators to proceed to APICTA where they can promote their products to a panel of international judges. Winners of BICTA 2014 was announced and awarded during the BICTA Gala Night event held in last September. AITI encourages the Brunei ICT savvy society to take this opportunity to showcase their capabilities by participating in BICTA 2015.
