Hj Fauzan stormed to victory in the elite final of the BSB Go-Kart Race – held in conjunction with the 44th anniversary of the renaming of Bandar Brunei to Bandar Seri Begawan – near Dermaga Diraja in the capital yesterday.
Jeffrey Suresh finished second in the same category in his final race as a competitive go-kart competitor while Amirul crossed the line in third.
Meanwhile, YAM Pg Anak Abdul Rashid bin Pg Kerma Raja Pg Hj Kamarulzaman won the novice category final and also posted the fastest qualifying time of 47: 404 seconds.
Pg Izad Rezaleigh finished second while Samir Kassim settled for third in the novice category final.
Johnny Kwa emerged winner in the veteran final followed by Han Wee Yiau in second place and John Liew Teck Khong in third place.
Pg Fadzil Pg Hj Besar posted the fastest qualifying time in the veteran category while Jeffrey Suresh registered the fastest time in the elite category.
Hj Fauzan of the Amori Racing Team told the Bulletin that he was fighting to defend his lead after claiming pole position with five laps to go.
“In the third or fourth lap, I lost ground but I fought back to claim the lead. It was all about protecting the lead from there,” Hj Fauzan said.
