THREE babies were presented with gifts in a ceremony held to celebrate their births on the first day of 1436 Hijrah, at the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and was attended by the guest of honour Dato Seri Setia Awg Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yusof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and his wife.
Three babies, two boys and a girl, received vouchers consisting of babies’ necessities worth $100 along with $250 worth of baby items presented by the guest of honour.
Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB) contributed by opening $200 accounts for the babies.
This was presented by Hjh Normawati binti Dato Paduka Hj Othman, the Head of Leagal & Compliance of TAIB.
Haji Mohd Maszaiwardy bin Haji Masni, the Assistant General Manager of Sales Department from Takaful Brunei Keluarga Sdn Bhd, presented vouchers worth $250 for joining the Takaful Nur Savings along with gifts for the newborns on behalf of Syarikat Takaful Brunei Darussalam Sdn Bhd (STBD).
According to statistics, this year fewer babies were born on Hijrah in Belait compared to last year.
Nur Azreen binti Johan and Mohd Noordin bin Ramli were blessed with their first Hijrah child in the Belait District – a healthy baby boy weighing 3.790Kg born at 1.58am.
The baby, who was born through a Caesarean section delivery, is the couple’s first child.
At 2.26pm, Sagun and Babita Rai Dewan were blessed with a girl weighing 3.570kg, through normal delivery.
The parents of the third baby are Sukaimi bin Hj Sulaiman and Sofiati binti Hj Awang Ladis. The baby, who is the couple’s fourth child, was born at 3.39pm through normal delivery and weighed 3.915Kg.
The ceremony was held to welcome the arrival of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, and to express gratitude to Allah the Almighty for the birth of the children on one of the most significant days of the Islamic calendar.
