SINGAPORE (Bernama) – Toilets in Singapore can get a six-star rating beyond the current three to five stars if they meet certain criteria, the Restroom Association Singapore (RAS) said in marking World Toilet Day on Wednesday.
Restroom operators need to adopt technology to increase efficiency and ensure all their cleaning attendants have undergone the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications module in washroom cleaning to achieve a six-star rating, Xinhua news agency reports RAS as saying.
The current rating of restrooms in Singapore is set up under the Happy Toilet Programme in 2003, Channel NewsAsia reported.
Rating focuses on five main areas: design, cleanliness, effectiveness, maintenance and user satisfaction. World Toilet Day was established in 2001 and aims to break the taboo around toilets and raise global awareness of the daily struggle for proper sanitation many people face.a
