I HAVE been here for a number of years and my amah has decided not to renew her contract due to personal reasons. I have made preliminary enquiries for a replacement and have been devastated by the quoted cost by agents for supplying a new amah.
The sum of B$2,800 seems to be very popular with agents. Ok fine, but what does it actually cost to bring in an amah?
The way I see it is that there is actually very little work required other than a few arrangements for travel and obtaining the necessary medical requirements, government chops and IC.
How can this equate to B$2,800? The government should urgently review the regulations and greedy agents they have granted licences to.
The relevant authority should intervene to make it a fair deal for all.
