PAD Motors Sdn Bhd is holding a used car expo at Sentral Shopping Centre in the Belait District, offering the public a chance to get their hands on vehicles imported from Japan and the United Kingdom at a good price as part of their National Day promotion.
Response to the promotion has been overwhelming with three vehicles purchased even before the opening. The top cars sold were Nissan GTR, Masserati Quattroporte and Mercedes S350 AMG. Over 30 vehicles are on display, including the Mini Cooper, Toyota Vellfire, Toyota Alphard, Honda Odyssey, Toyota Mark X and the BMW M135i.
Times Square Group of Companies Executive Director Hambali bin Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Paduka Hj Mohd Salleh told the Bulletin the cars imported into Brunei are no older than three years.
“We are very selective. Most of the cars sold are of very low mileage,” he said, before explaining that the imported vehicles have to go through a pre-delivery inspection that costs 1,500 euro per car. This ensures tight inspection from top to bottom, and depending on the results, the company may opt to reject a car if it fails to meet the requirements.
“If they (the cars) don’t pass, we have to either reject them, or the exporting companies will have to rectify them.”
Pad Motors had initially set a 10 car target to be sold. However, the overwhelming response has resulted in the increase of that figure to 25 to 30 cars.
“We have 10 more cars in stock just in case we sell out, and based on the response we are getting, we might open a branch in Kuala Belait. We believe that for this week, we have the cheapest price offered for the same models anywhere in the Sultanate,” he added.
The expo is set to run February 17, and depending on stock availability, another expo might be organised at Times Square in Berakas next month.
