IT WAS a day of celebration yesterday as Joyful Kids Montessori School held its graduation ceremony and year-end programme at the Hua Ho Manggis Mall Ballroom.
The young graduates received their certificates from the guest of honour, Director of Schools Datin Dr Hjh Asmah Hj Morni, while Principal Caroline Wong praised the hard work and efforts of the students in her speech.
Joyful Kids Montessori School Managing Director Helen Sitai joined the proud parents and students at the celebratory event, which came packed with colourful student performances that included ‘Tale of Belle,’ ‘Lion King,’ and ‘Little Mermaid.’
The school’s mission is to provide each child an environment to develop their full academic, social and physical potential, based on the Montessori principles of learning.
The school is dedicated to the philosophy and principles of Dr Maria Montessori, who lived from 1870 to 1952. She was the first female physician in Italy. Her work in medicine and anthropology led her to observe the behaviour of young children.
She concluded that a child learns best in a home-like setting, and that the learning environment should be filled with developmentally appropriate materials to provide experiences that contribute to the growth of self-motivated, independent learners.
