HANOI (Bernama) – The People’s Committee of Hanoi has kicked off a campaign to create a cleaner and greener Hanoi free of traffic chaos, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported.
Transport Department director Vu Van Vien said under the campaign, the city will ensure no indiscriminate parking in the capital city and pavements are free of illegal street vendors.
Codes of behaviour will be introduced for Hanoians this year.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said at the campaign’s launch ceremony that all citizens will be made aware of traffic safety regulations.
People’s Committee chairman Nguyen The Thao said authorities will arrange sites for street vendors to conduct their businesses and public lighting system will also be improved.
“We call upon the people to assist the campaign by following traffic rules and keeping the city clean and green,” Thao said.
