THE Humanitarian Emergency Aid Response Team (H.E.A.R.T) will be organising a three-day nationwide charity event in November in conjunction with the group’s 2nd anniversary.
This was announced at a press conference yesterday at Vanda VIP Conference Room, Orchid Garden Hotel. The guest of honour was Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Datin Paduka Hajah Adina binti Othman, who also officiated the press meet.
The main objective of this humanitarian charity drive is to raise money for the H.E.A.R.T Humanitarian Welfare Fund and H.E.A.R.T Development & Training Fund.
The event will feature Charity Bazaar, Night Cycling and Walk & Run.
In his opening remark, Simon Tiong, the Secretary-General of H.E.A.R.T, said the organisation was set up to facilitate humanitarian relief for victims of natural calamities and to support the unfortunate groups such as the needy and the poor communities mainly through providing them with monthly groceries.
“The H.E.A.R.T Development & Training Fund is set up to upgrade the operating and training equipment for the poor such as developing training facilities and providing venues, bicycles, scooters, cars, ATV, medical supplies, equipment and so on,” he said.
The organisation also called upon the participation of the public to rally their support and resources for the humanitarian charitable drive.
From November 28 to 30, a H.E.A.R.T Humanitarian Charity Bazaar will be held for local vendors to sell and showcase their products. Local companies and NGOs are welcome to participate in the three-day bazaar.
Funds will be generated from rental of air-conditioned stores, booths, Games Park, ATV rental, bouncer and basketball shooting and sales of H.E.A.R.T merchandise (pen drive, colour pens, caps etc).
The Charity Bazaar is aimed at channelling a portion of the collected fund to H.E.A.R.T patients from RIPAS Hospital and JPMC who are in need of funds for treatment or buying wheelchairs.
The Night Cycling and Walk & Run events will be held on November 29 at the Indoor Stadium, Berakas. The events will include a 3-km and 5-km walk, 10-km run and a 30-km cycling expedition.
Participation fee for each person is $25 and the events are for those aged above 10 years. Upon registration, each participant will receive a T-shirt, a souvenir and a certificate. Participation is free for those aged 10 years and below.
The collection of funds will be done through direct transfer into the H.E.A.R.T Humanitarian & Development Fund account and the organisation also welcome sponsorships from the private sector (corporate or individuals) in the form of providing T-shirts, drinks, medals, banners and so on. The organisation will also organise the H.E.A.R.T Humanitarian Charity Night 2014 at Orchid Garden Hotel.
An appreciation dinner will be held along with draws, prizes of which will be given out to the supporting government agencies, private sector, contributing individuals and all volunteers involved in the humanitarian charity drive.
H.E.A.R.T will also be handing donations in the form of cheques and wheelchairs to H.E.A.R.T patients from RIPAS Hospital and JPMC.
H.E.A.R.T is a non-profitable organisation which is active in humanitarian work, first-aid cover as well as youth development and training since 2012. Since its establishment, the organisation has grown from 80 to 400 members now.
