ONE of the recipients of the Special Award at the 21st National Convocation, Mohd Firdaus Wasli, expressed his gratitude for the award, saying that the work he put into his studies was worth it.
While doing his two year Diploma in Science he had the opportunity to do a work attachment at the Calibration Centre at the Ministry of Defence where the three months saw him gain a lot of experience.
When preparing for exams, he practised time management which he believes is vital in getting prepared for exams.
Firdaus, who is currently employed temporarily at a private firm, intends to start his career first and then further his studies when the opportunity arises.
Meanwhile, Excellent Student award recipient, 24-year-old Farhana Ismail, noted that her parents supported and motivated her a lot towards her final year and that her instructors were always on hand to provide guidance, motivation and encouragement when she felt in doubt.
Final exams were quite easy she said as instructors ensured that students were well prepared a month before the finals. Instructors continuously gave tests, which helped greatly.
Farhana plans to continue with her studies and pursue her bachelors degree if granted the chance. With regard to her interest in growing organic paddy, she hopes that she can study at a university in Korea, a country with excellent first-hand knowledge on the process.
Nuratiqah Muhd Sadiy, a diploma graduate in plant engineering from Jefri Bolkiah College of Engineering, spent almost three years studying plants and their processes, noting that it was quite challenging as there were plenty of subjects and a heavy assignment load.
She expressed her happiness nonetheless for completing her diploma, adding that the final year was the hardest due to a final year project.
Like most of her peers, she hopes to be able to further her studies at Institut Teknologi Brunei.
