TEMERLOH (Bernama) – The government will provide short and long term aid for the fish farmers of Sungai Pahang who lost their livelihood following the massive floods.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the move will be expedited so that the fish farmers can rebuild their source of income and livelihood.
“The Ministry of Agriculture Agro-Based Industry can provide Patin and Tilapia fry while Tekun and Amanah Ikhtiar can give the fish farmers loans to restart their businesses.
“I have been to many places and find that the destruction caused is out of the ordinary,” he said at a ‘gotong royong’ to clean up the homes of flood victims in Taman Sri Lebak.
Muhyiddin also advised the flood victims to face the future with courage and regarded the floods, the worst in 30 years, as a test from Allah the Almighty.
“The government will not take it lightly as about 300,000 people are affected by the floods in Kelantan, Pahang, Terengganu, Johor, Perak and Sabah.
“This is the largest number in our history. Insya Allah, we will prevail,” he added.
