IN ITS effort to raise awareness among all its employees about the importance of workplace safety and health, the Government Printing Department is holding a Safety Week at its premises in Old Airport, Berakas. The event, which began yesterday, will last until February 7, under the theme ‘Together Cultivate a Healthy and Safe Workplace’.
The event is to highlight all relevant workplace safety and health elements such as wearing personal protective equipment when operating the printing machines and maintaining good housekeeping in order to inculcate workplace safety and health as a work culture.
The event is held in collaboration with the Occupational Health Division, Department of Health Services, Labour Department, Energy Department at the Prime Minister’s Office, Health Promotion Centre, Psychology Division and Brunei’s National Resuscitation Centre.
Briefings and demonstrations will be presented by experts on Workplace Safety and Health, Workmen Compensation Claim, Machine Safety, Acids and Chemicals Handling, Personal Protective Equipment, Stress at Work, Manual Handlings and Ergonomics.
There will also be side events such as bandaging demonstration and health check-up as well as activities such as aerobic session and cleaning campaign. The department seeks to create a balanced working environment that can motivate employees to be more productive.
