THE Brunei Toys Hobby Collectors Con was well received over the weekend with 16 exhibitors bringing in their personal collections (pictured below).
According to Brunei Toyz Chairperson Jacky Lim, the toy collections brought in featured characters primarily from Transformers, Star Wars, Power Rangers, Voltron, WWE, Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Gundam, Lego, WWE Mattel and Marvel superheroes.
The selections featured characters from the ’80s – such as Gundam and Transformer figurines from 1986, the ’90s – including Voltron and Power Rangers, the 2000s – Star Wars, right up until present day figurines.
Discussing her passion for toy collection, she pointed out that in the ’80s, toy manufacturers began introducing action figures.
The plastic quality was better in the past, she said, before going on to add that today there is a new market for die-cast models, which last longer and has more characters in the range.
The Brunei Toys Hobby Collectors Con is held every September, and this was the second event hosted by Brunei Toys Hobby Collectors, which was formed in 2013.
There are currently 2,300 collectors, with between 60 to 100 of whom are active group members.
