AS MORE locals, especially the younger generation, begin to explore ways of getting fit, some 20 individuals displayed their fitness skills with calisthenics at the first-ever Beach Pull-Up Jam yesterday evening at Tungku Beach.
Organised by Brunei Calisthenics, the two-day competition aimed to promote the sport of using one’s body strength for a full-body work out. All participants were judged based on strength/control, endurance, balance/agility as well as creativity in acrobatics and performance.
Judges comprised members of several fitness associations including Brunei Adventure Recreation Association (BARA), Brunei Parkour, BARA Sports Climbing Club (BSCC), Brunei Calisthenics and Barmadillos.
Mohammad Khadirun Kadi bin Ahmad wooed the crowd with his freestyle performance, winning the likes of judges securing first place. Meanwhile, Mohammad Izul Adilah bin Abdullah and Mohammad Nizam Zulhilmi bin Hussin Shah emerged as first and second runner-ups respectively.
All three battled it out from the preliminary rounds through the semi-finals, ultimately securing their places in the finals. The trio went home with a medal and trophy each.
