THE Executive Committee for Brunei Darussalam’s 32nd National Day celebrations has decided to retain last year’s theme of ‘Generation with a Vision’.
The logo will also remain the same with a few minor changes in colour and description, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, who is also Chairman of the Executive Committee, said yesterday.
In his address at the second meeting of the committee held at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, he said, “The 32nd National Day celebration will be similar to the celebrations held in previous years. It is a significant celebration to express the spirit of patriotism as well as the undivided loyalty towards His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam as well as to support the monarch in realising the ambitious Vision 2035 with the philosophy of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB).”
The minister said that various activities involving all the people in the country to enliven the 32nd National Day celebration are being planned. The activities include the distribution of the mini table national flags, National Day run and the 32 times Khatam Al-Quran ceremony and many more.
With only 70 days left for the celebration, the minister hoped that all relevant parties will take proactive measures to make sure that all preparations run smoothly and according to established guidelines.
The minister also announced the appointment of the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, and the Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force, Dato Paduka Seri Haji Bahrin bin Mohd Noor, as joint deputy chairperson in the Executive Committee.
The gigantic national flag hoisting ceremony will be held on February 7, 2016 at the open area of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex while the lowering of the flag will be held on February 27, the minister informed.
The Maghrib and Isyak mass prayer, the recitation of Surah Yaasiin as well as reading of Doa Kesyukuran will be held on February 22 in mosques, suraus and prayer halls nationwide with the main focus at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque.
The main National Day celebration will be on February 23 which will be held at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien at 8.15am.
The minister in his speech reminded the committee to always comply with established rules, especially in spending for organising the National Day events.
Also present at the meeting were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana Pengiran Haji Alauddin bin Pengiran Paduka Tuan Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, the Grand Chamberlain; and other members of the Executive Committee.
