SOME 73 employees of G4S Brunei and Sphere Services Sdn Bhd (S3) were awarded for their long service during a reception at the Badi’ah Hotel in Jalan Tutong yesterday.
On hand to present the awards was the guest of honour, Ahmad Isa in his capacity as one of the G4S directors. According to him, their staff is the main asset and has undoubtedly upheld the core values of G4S and S3 in terms of customer focus, integrity, expertise, best performance, teamwork and collaboration.
He also highlighted on challenges they have experienced from instability in the management team to lapses in judgment, work ethics and failure to follow standard operating procedures.
“However, I am pleased that whenever such challenges arise, we are able to identify, rectify and overcome them and ensure that same weaknesses are not repeated.”
The ability to address and overcome such challenges is vital and again points to the importance of having properly trained, motivated and dedicated staff.
“My fellow directors and I believe that with continued teamwork and communication, we will continue to achieve and sustain the growth of G4S Brunei and S3. We hope to remain the top choice for existing and potential customers in this ever-competitive market,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Managing Director Jorge Vega highlighted that clients and employees build the company’s success, which is achieved when clients are of high ethical standards to maintain the integrity of their organisations. Thus, they are completely opposed to bribery and corruption in any form and no employee can accept money, gifts or inducements from others trying to influence them to perform their work.
Vega futher disclosed that 2014 has seen both companies achieving several targets. The first was to be 100 per cent compliant with the Labour Act 2009, which is already in place. “This will differentiate our company against competitors on how we treat our employees. This of course, increases the loyalty of our staff while decreasing the high turnover that our industry is facing,” he added.
The company is also introducing on the job training and full implementation of Skywalker, a guarding time attendance software capturing employees’ schedules and worked hours. He also highlighted the latest implementation on Health & Safety, which will conclude by the first quarter of 2015. As the company takes the welfare of its employees seriously, actions taken will ensure that they maintain the highest standards in the country.
Three G4S employees received the 15-years service award, seven received the 10 years award and 43 G4S employees for the five years award. Meanwhile, 20 employees from S3 received the five-years service award.
