LABUAN (Bernama) – Federal Territories Umno will continue its post-flood relief mission to the flood affected states through volunteerism from among its members.
Its divisional chairman Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said so far 250 volunteers from various divisions, including youth and women members, had been deployed to the affected states.
“The first group of volunteers, armed with cleaning tools like water jet spray, have gone to various places such as Kelantan. This post-flood relief mission will continue until we feel the affected victims can at least, more or less, return to their normal life,” he told Bernama when contacted here yesterday.
He said Umno divisions, namely Bukit Bintang, Lembah Pantai, Seputih, Labuan Umno Youth and Putrajaya were also involved in the mission providing basic essential and school needs like school uniform.
Tengku Adnan, who is also Minister of Federal Territories. said the Kuala Lumpur City Hall staff also chipped in to help in cleaning works in certain places in Temerloh, Pahang.
“I’m proud of being directed by the prime minister to draw our strength to assist in the post-flood relief mission, as it was very helpful,” he said.
