JASIN (Bernama) – A man believed to be a foreigner was found dead with a slash wound on the neck in Bandar Baru Merlimau Utara here this morning.
Melaka CID chief ACP Raja Shahrom Raja Abdullah said the victim, in his 20s, was found by a local resident at 8am. He said initial investigations showed the victim was believed murdered two days ago based on the condition of the body, which had started to decompose.
“Apart from a slash mark on the neck, there were also several stab wounds on the back of the victim. “Police are looking for the murder weapon or evidence on the incident,” he said when met by reporters.
Raja Shahrom said the victim was believed to have been slashed before being dragged into a 3-metre deep ravine. He said the incident could have been carried out by more than two persons as the body was moved bout 100 metres from murder scene.
“Members of the public with information on the incident are requested to approach the nearest police station and the case has been classified as murder,” he said.
