THE first Haj flight carrying 191 pilgrims left the Sultanate yesterday at 1pm onboard BI4201, which is expected to land in Medina, Saudi Arabia at 5.34pm, today. The delegation comprised 182 people under Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd’s Delima and Zamrud packages, three of its escort officers and six medical officers. This year, the Haj Management Department has scheduled two flights from Brunei Darussalam to Saudi Arabia.
In an interview with the Bulletin, Haj pilgrims Normah binti Hj Tahir and her daughter, Norijah binti Hj Minin, shared that it is for the first time they are performing the Haj and they hope for a successful pilgrimage.
Meanwhile, Hj Minin bin Hj Damit stated that he is grateful to have the opportunity to perform the pilgrimage for a second time.
Pilgrims Muhd Sufri bin Hj Mahali, Dayang Nurhayati binti Hashim and Dayang Hanita binti Mahali shared that they are extremely happy for the opportunity to perform Haj for the first time and they hope that their observance of the pilgrimage will be accepted by Allah the Almighty.
Present as special guests to bid farewell to the pilgrims were Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Religious Affairs; Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yusoff bin Haji Ismail, the Acting Minister of Education who is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd; Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs; Haji Mohd ‘Abdoh bin Dato Seri Setia Haji Abd Salam, Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Haji Harun bin Haji Junid, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious), Ministry of Religious Affairs and Tariq Mohammed Ali Bahhah, Chargé d’affaires ad interim Deputy Head of Mission at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia.
The farewell was accompanied by a Doa Selamat led by Pehin Khatib Haji Suhaili bin Haji Metali Al-Hafiz followed by the call of Azan by Mudim Haji Awang Metassim bin Haji Metussin.
Also present were members of the Haj Adviser delegation, directors, assistant directors and senior officers at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and directors of the Haj Package Management Operators.
