MASHHOR General Contractor Sdn Bhd of the Mashhor Group of Companies yesterday held a graduation ceremony for the first cohort of welders at the Mashhor Training Centre in Seria.
The event opened with the singing of the national anthem and was followed by a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah.
In his speech, Project Manager Ferdinand de Chavez lauded the graduates for continuously reaching new heights, adding, “The graduates underwent six months of training and we are proud to see them successfully reaching this far, and hopefully with their new certification, they will keep acquiring and realising aspirations.”
Meanwhile, in a separate speech, Mashhor Group of Companies Chairman Malai Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Malai Mashhor noted, “Mashhor Training Centre is marking today a milestone by awarding certificates to the first batch of welders as part of its local development plan, in coordination with the Energy Industry Competency Frameworks (EICF) under the Energy Department at the Prime Minister’s Office (EDPMO).”
He added, “The Local Development Programme might be new to the market but it has been an integral part of our system since day one of our establishment. We have always been at the forefront for the development of youth of Brunei, acknowledging our social responsibilities to our community and our youth, no matter how engaged and busy we are.
“I believe the future of the country lies on the self-reliant youth of the future generation for its existence as an independent and developed nation,” he said.
The chairman later awarded certificates to the 30 graduates.
Jazli Syajir bin Jasni was awarded for being the Best Male Student and Nur Darwisyah Zakirah binti Nor Muhammadi for being the Best Female Student.
Other awards were also handed out under different categories such as Female Leadership, Male Leadership, Best Attendance, Most Improved Student, Most Pro-Active Student, Most Punctual Student, Most Cooperative Student, Active Student Award and Supportive Student Award.
