The Brunei Darussalam Netball Association (BNA) will be organising the 1st Borneo Cup Netball Championship from tomorrow to March 2 at Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex in Berakas.
Four teams – Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Darussalam Schools Sports Association (MSSSBD) U-17, Sabah and Sarawak – will compete in the three-day round-robin tournament.
The opening ceremony will be at 7.25pm on Saturday at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium Sports Complex.
Brunei Darussalam will meet Sarawak in the opening match at 8pm, followed by the match between MSSSBD and Sabah at 9.45pm.
Brunei Darussalam will then meet MSSSBD on Sunday at 7.30pm, followed by the match between Sabah and Sarawak at 8.45pm.
MSSSBD will face Sarawak at 5pm on Monday, followed by the last match between Brunei Darussalam against Sabah.
BNA Public Relations Officer Shariff Yusoff, as Deputy Chairman of the competition, said the main objective of the tournament was to prepare the national team for the SEA Games in Singapore this June.
“MSSSBD Under-17 team were invited for them to gain exposure and prepare for the upcoming Asean Schools Games.”
“The entrance is free and all are welcome to watch. Please do come and support our Bruneian teams during the tournament.” he added.
