Nerisa Terante Valenzuela, who now goes by the Muslim name Marissa Adriana binti Abdullah, recited the ‘Syahadah’ at the ceremony, in the presence of personnel from the Islamic and Conversion Guidance Unit and family members.
The 30-year-old chief cashier at Freshco Times Square explained to the Bulletin that she first thought about embracing Islam after experiencing the colourful month of Ramadhan when she first started working in Brunei two years ago.
She is also thankful to her friend who helped guide her in learning Islam.
