Farewell dinner for visiting Korean delegation

KOREAN participants from the Brunei Darussalam and Republic of Korea Bilateral Youth Exchange Programme 2017 were recently feted at a farewell dinner at the VVIP Lounge of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

Attending as guests of honour were the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil; Cho Won-myung, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Brunei Darussalam; and the working committee of the exchange programme.

The event began with a speech by the Youth and Sports Chief Officer of the Department of Youth and Sports as well as chairperson of the working committee, Hajah Noor Maslina binti Haji Sulaiman, who cited the strong friendship and mutual relationship between the two countries through the programme, as well as opportunities for youths to share perspectives and ideas on various fields to help them develop as future youth leaders.

The event continued with a speech by the head of the Korean delegation, Baek Hyeonseok, an officer from the Ministry of Gender, Equality and Family, Republic of Korea followed by a video presentation and presentation of tokens and certificates to the 10 participants.

The delegates were visiting Brunei Darussalam as part of the seventh Brunei Darussalam and Republic of Korea Bilateral Youth Exchange Programme 2017, carried out under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei Darussalam and the Ministry of Gender, Equality and Family of the Republic of Korea in 2009 which aimed to solidify bilateral cooperation of both countries.

The programme also aims to enhance understanding and trust of both parties through cultural exchange.
