A GROUP of students from Fairview School’s Tunas Scout and Girl Guide has recently collected donations and supplies to help the recent fire victims of Kampong Setia ‘B’, which has displaced dozens of families who are sheltered at the Surau of Kampong Setia ‘B’ for the time being.
The donations, which came in the form of finance, household items, clothing, food as well as school supplies, were collected from teachers, students and their families, as well as staff members of the school prior to the presentation of the donation to the fire victims.
The fire, which occurred in late January, damaged four houses and partially destroyed another four, and has left 54 residents without a roof over their heads.
The school hopes that their efforts will ease the burden of the victims in rebuilding their lives. The aid also aims to teach the younger children about charity, a sense of unit, kindness and the importance of reaching out to others in times of need.
The presentation of the donations took place at Kampong Setia ‘B Surau, where the fire victims are currently residing.
