IN APPRECIATION of the significant contribution of teachers in our society, Fairview School recently held its annual Teacher’s Day celebration at the school’s premises in Kampung Manggis.
The event was carried out in conjunction with the celeberation of 100 Years of Formal Education in Brunei Darussalam.
Present at the joyous event were Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Ahmad bin Dato Paduka Matnor, Managing Director and Proprietor of Fairview School; Datin Paduka Hajah Fatimah binti Dato Paduka Haji Hussain, the school’s Academic Director; and Cikgu Samsiniah binti Haji Kepli, the school’s Headmistress.
The ceremony opened with the singing of the national anthem ‘Allah Peliharakan Sultan’ followed by the recitation of Doa led by Ustaz Norazmi bin Haji Ahad.
This continued with a poetic perfor-mance titled “The Most Admired Teacher” by Year 2 student Dk Azalea Naqiyah binti Pengiran Haji Zaakbah.
A welcoming remark was delivered by one of the school’s Prefect from Year 6, Nabilah Azzahra binti Hj Muhd Sofian.
She expressed her gratitude and appreciation and on behalf of all the students, for the teachers’ valuable contribution to their education.
The celebration then proceeded with a song called “Terima Kasih Cikgu” sung by students from kindergarten to Year 6. Later a fun quiz was held to test students’ knowledge about their teachers.
The students then went in a procession to hand over their handmade cards and gifts to their respective class teachers.
Towards the end of the event, all the teachers gathered together for a special cake-cutting ceremony led by the headmistress, Cikgu Samsiniah.
