MORE than 7,000 young participants full of exuberance were seen yesterday energetically performing during a rehearsal ahead of the 31st National Day celebration, which will take place at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien on February 23.
Based on the theme, ‘Generasi Berwawasan’ (Generation with a Vision), the rehearsal included a march past by uniformed personnel, government officials, representatives of the private sector, youth organisations, foreign associations as well as students from several schools.
The practice which involved students from various educational institutions across the country, performed field shows and dance routines with a high level of spirit and liveliness, flooding the whole field with vibrant colours.
On hand to oversee the rehearsal were the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah; Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Datin Paduka Hajah Adina binti Othman and other senior officials of the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports.
Before ending the rehearsal, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, took the opportunity to congratulate participants for their impressive performance and dedication towards ensuring the event is a successful one, however, he highlighted that there are still a few adjustments that could be pursued to further improve the show.
The minister expressed his satisfaction that the series of national day rehearsals have triggered strong feelings of patriotism and hoped that the showcase in front of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the royal family will be truly felt in their hearts and minds.
