KUCHING (Bernama) – Former Sarawak Information Director Resat Salleh, 60, died early yesterday at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) at about 2.10am due to cardiac valve complications.
Acting Sarawak Information Director Zaini Mohamad said his body would arrive at the Kuching International Airport at 3.45pm yesterday, to be taken to his elder sister’s house in Kampung Tanjung, here before burial at the Semariang Muslim cemetery.
He said he was informed that Resat had been receiving medical treatment from time to time after he complained of chest pains, and was admitted into HKL several weeks ago.
He said Resat had served as Sarawak Information director in 2006 before being transferred to the Information Department Headquarters in Putrajaya in October 2012. He retired from service about three months ago.
“I worked with him when he was the State Information Director. He liked to joke, was kind and always focused on his duties. My condolences to his family,” he said when contacted here yesterday.
