SEGAMAT (NST) – A 46-year-old rubber tapper was killed after being attacked by an enraged female buffalo at a rubber estate in Kampung Mensudut Pindah, Batu Anam yesterday.
Rosnani Wahid died on-the-spot after suffering from serious head and body injuries after the buffalo rammed into her during the 11.30am incident.
It is learnt that the buffalo’s rope had been trapped among some tree roots for over an hour causing the animal to struggle to free itself.
Rosnani, who was tapping rubber nearby, tried to chase away the animal when the buffalo broke free and rammed its head into her.
After she fell, the buffalo continued to attack the victim.
Several villagers tried to help, but the buffalo became aggressive and threatened to attack them as well.
After the buffalo was calmed down, the villagers retrieved the victim and secured the animal.
However, the victim, who is a mother of five children, was dead and her body covered in blood due to the attack.
Segamat deputy police chief Deputy Superitendent M Anuar Ismail said police dispatched a team upon receiving a report about the incident.
“The victim’s remains were sent to the Segamat Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said, adding that police have classified the case under Sudden Death Report.
