THE Embassy of the State of Qatar in Brunei Darussalam yesterday hosted a reception in conjunction with Qatar’s National Day at the Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong.
Present as the guest of honour was Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman, the Minister of Religious Affairs, who was accompanied by his spouse, Datin Hajah Alimah binti Mohd Taib. They were greeted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to Brunei Darussalam, Saleh Mohammed Al Nesef.
The event began with the national anthems of both countries, followed by the recitation of a Surah from the Holy Quran, a cake-cutting ceremony and the presentation of a gift to Datin Hajah Alimah.
Qatar, which gained independence on September 3, 1971 celebrates its independence day on December 18.
