Embassy of Thailand holds dinner reception

THE Embassy of Thailand in Brunei Darussalam hosted a dinner reception yesterday in line with the Kingdom of Thailand’s National Day celebration at The Empire Hotel & Country Club.

Biravij Suwanpradhes, Ambassador of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam welcomed Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs, and his spouse upon arrival.

The event began with the national anthems of Brunei Darussalam and Thailand, followed by a welcoming speech by the ambassador and the presentation of a token of appreciation to the guest of honour.

In his speech, the ambassador touched on the growing Thailand-Brunei bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields including defence, economic and trade as well as education.

“Our regular high-level exchange of visits speak very well to our close bilateral relationships. Last year, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Summit in Bangkok, while in October this year our prime minister was honoured to be invited to the banquet celebrating the Golden Jubilee of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne.

“I am certain that under the wise guidance of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, our bilateral relations will continue to prosper and be further strengthened to include cooperation in areas such as trade, agriculture, education, defence, health and tourism,” he said.

Members of the Diplomatic Corps were also present at the celebration.
