TUTONG District Volunteers (TDV) helped to clean and spruce up the unkempt surrounding of an underprivileged home yesterday at Kampung Bukit, Mukim Ukong.
The activity was part of TDV’s community activity of an ongoing ‘Economy and Community’ project initiated by the Tutong District Office.
The Tutong District Volunteers is a newly -formed organisation initiated by the Tutong District Office to keep and inculcate spirit of volunteerism among the community member in Tutong District. The ‘Economy and Community’ project is a continuation of previous projects undertaken by the TDV members.
The activity was assisted by several government agencies including the Tutong District Office, Fire and Rescue Department as well as several members of the Village and Mukim Consultative Councils.
The Tutong District Officer, Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali also joined the activity.
Before the activity, the members of TDV were given a briefing on a product undertaken by the Mukim Ukong Consultative Council under the One Village One Product (1K1P) Initiative at Kampung Bukit Community Hall.
The participants also had the opportunity to visit the Kampung Lamunin Community Centre to know more on the development of 1K1P product undertaken by the Women Bureau of Kampung Lamunin Consultative Council, which is Brunei Traditional Dry Cakes. They also had the opportunity to go for Friday prayer at the Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Wakeel Mosque and listen to a briefing on the activities undertaken by the ‘Takmir and Youth’ members of the mosque.
In the afternoon, the participants visited an underprivileged family at Kampung Sengkarai, Tutong. The family previously received help by the participants in cleaning up the houses and surrounding.
The event ended with a discussion session at the official residence of the Tutong District Officer on the activities they had done.
