TWO men pleaded guilty at the Bandar Magistrate’s Court yesterday to theft and overstaying.
Their sentencing is fixed for February 9.
Markus anak Mingat, a 26-year-old local, pleaded guilty to stealing a CCTV camera from the 3rd floor of the Parkview Hotel at Jalan Jerudong on January 29.
His accomplice, Bong Su Fat, a 35-year-old Indonesian, also pleaded guilty to stealing two CCTV cameras from the Parkview Hotel and overstaying in Brunei Darussalam since the expiration of his immigration pass on March 19, 2014 until his arrest on February 5.
Magistrate Ak Shahyzul Pg Abd Rahman adjourned the case to consider sentences.
DPP Danial Kifrawi informed the magistrate that both defendants checked into the hotel in Jerudong and stole the CCTV cameras just before checking out.
Police arrested the defendants after reports were lodged by the hotel. The stolen items were found in the possession of the defendants and recovered.
During police investigations on the thefts, Bong was referred to the immigration department and investigations there found that Bong had overstayed.
