THE Intermediate Court reserved sentencing for November 26 on two local men who pleaded guilty to five counts of house break-in and retaining stolen property.
Judge Pg Hjh Hanani Pg Hj Metussain will consider the sentence on 33-year-old Raubanizam Hj Raub and 25-year-old Mohd Fuad bin Mohd Ibrahim.
DPP Sharon Yeo informed the court that the duo broke into a house at Jalan Bebatik, Kilanas during the wee hours of July 13, 2011, and stole a handbag containing $4,700 cash, an identity card, an appointment card and medicine whilst another handbag stolen contained $300 cash, an identity card, ATM cards, student card, car keys, a Samsung hard disk and a Kingston pen drive.
Raubanizam broke into a house at Kg Bengkurong Masin, Kg Sinarubai, at around 8.50pm on October 3, 2011, and stole two bags containing costume jewellery. Raubanizam dishonestly retained a stolen ring at a house in Kg Tanjong Bunut on September 13, 2011.
Both defendants broke into a house at Kg Sg Tilong between the wee hours of December 26 and 27, 2011 and stole an Apple Macbook, an iPhone 4, an Apple iPad, a Samsung Netbook, a digital camera, a Rolex ladies watch, an Omega ladies watch and an Apple iPod.
Raubanizam also retained a stolen 32” LG TV at a house in Kg Kiulap sometime between January and April, 2012.
The defendants face a penalty of imprisonment of up to five years with whipping for each house break-in charge which may extend to 15 years’ jail if theft is intended.
The retention of stolen property charges carry a penalty of imprisonment of three years maximum or a fine or both.
