THE body of a 26-year-old fisherman who was reported missing since Wednesday morning at a river around Luba Mausoleum in Kg Bunut was found yesterday at 1.58pm, about 100 metres from the scene of the incident, the Fire and Rescue Department said.
The personnel had conducted a search and rescue operation for two days along with Royal Brunei Police Force personnel from the Marine and Kg Ayer Police Station.
The Fire and Rescue Department was led by Station Officer, Md Haris bin Hj Md Zaini and involved 20 personnel including 15 from the diving unit and five personnel from Sg Lampai Fire Station.
Meanwhile, the police said the deceased drowned and there was no foul play. The body was later handed over to his family members.
The man was from Junjungan and according to family members, he left for fishing at around 6am on Wednesday. Eyewitnesses saw his boat circling around without any operator at around 9.45am in the middle of the river on Wednesday. At the time of the incident, a fresh catch of crabs was found onboard his boat.
