THE Magistrate’s Court yesterday sentenced a 35-year-old local to three months imprisonment for committing theft at a hardware store.
Mohd Radzuan Hj Imran pleaded guilty to thieving two Hitachi cordless drills from Wee Mery Hardware Trading Company at 4pm on September 5.
The court heard that the defendant had driven to the shop, walked in and picked up two boxes of cordless drills, worth $490, before exiting the shop. Noticing this, a shop employee chased after the defendant, who had by this point driven off.
The employee then lodged a police report, which resulted in the defendant’s arrest. The stolen items were recovered by police even after the defendant had sold them off for $130.
