TELEPHONE number 123 is the new hotline phone (in place of 144 for Electrical Services Department, 140 for the Ministry of Development and 119 for Land Transport Department) for all services except that one has to press 1 for the Ministry of Development, 2 for DES and 3 for LTD.
This telephone number is considered as a ‘help line’ for the people of Brunei Darussalam.
But surprisingly when I checked my DST bill, I found out that I was charged for calling 123. As this is a help and complaint line, no charges should be imposed when calling this number.
It should be free so that public can make use of this hotline every now and then. In other countries hotline numbers are always free like a toll free number.
Why do we end up paying here for calling such numbers? Please think about it.
